The Studio

On this page

/studio is the live broadcast desk, a Myriad-style layout where what you see in the log is exactly what plays, in that order, at those times. The audio engine follows the log.

Views & pop-outs #

From the title bar you can switch Views and open Pop-outs (separate browser windows you can throw onto a second monitor):

  • Classic (/studio), the full desk.
  • Custom (/studio/custom), drag-and-drop panels; save named layout presets (personal or station-wide), resize and hide panels, reset to default.
  • Dual (/studio/dual), wide dual-monitor layout.
  • Pop-outs: Library, Cue Block, Station Log, Media Wall, and the Guest Mixer, each in its own window.

A theme toggle (light/dark) and your keyboard shortcuts (the ? button) live in the title bar too. The bar also shows the clock, an ON AIR / AUTO badge, and presence indicators for connected remote DJs and guests.

Transport: driving playout #

  • Go: start the next cued item (used in live/manual running; pulses when something is waiting on you).
  • Skip: advance to the next item now.
  • Pause / Resume: pause automation (instant) and resume it.
  • Emergency Stop: silence output immediately. The big red safety control.

There's also a playout-mode selector on the log:

  • STANDBY: automation paused.
  • LIVE: manual/live running (red).
  • AUTOFADE: automated, backtimed to land each hour on time (green).

The station log #

The log is a rolling, hour-by-hour grid. Each hour header shows whether it's playing, filled or empty, the track count and total duration, the projected end time, and a Fill this hour / Re-fill button.

Each row shows the title and artist (with a colour stripe by category), the duration (with an intro indicator like -:15), and a chain dot you can click to set how the track ends:

  • 🔴 STOP: stop at the end (don't auto-continue).
  • 🟡 SWEEP: segue over the next track's intro.
  • 🔵 AUTO: flow straight into the next item.
  • 🟢 (pulsing), now playing.

Interacting with the log:

  • Drag rows to reorder; drag a track from the Library onto a row to insert it before that row.
  • Click to select, double-click to open the Segue editor, right-click for a context menu.
  • Remove a row with the × on hover.
  • The log auto-scrolls to follow the on-air row (scroll away to browse; a Home button jumps back).

Advert breaks appear as their own rows ("Ad break · 3 min") with a Fill action; time markers (blue) mark top-of-hour and soft timing anchors.

Backtiming & top-of-hour: when AutoFade is on, the log shows a backtiming panel, the target end time, the projected drift (green/amber/red), and the action it will take (add filler or drop the last queued item). If strict hour lock is on, rows that will fade or cut at :00 show a marker. See §4.

The Library panel #

A category tree on the left (All songs → genres, Links → IDs/Jingles/Beds, Spots/Adverts, Other) and a searchable track list on the right. A ribbon gives you:

  • Cue / Log: add the selected track to the log.
  • Preview: audition it (in your headphones, not on air).
  • On air: fire a jingle/advert/ID/bed immediately over automation (it ducks the music).
  • Favourite, Cart (add to the Media Wall), Edit, Delete.

Drag a track straight from here onto the log, or double-click to add it.

Carts (Media Wall) #

A grid of one-touch buttons for instant playout, jingles, idents, stings, drop-ins. Filter by ALL / JINGLES / ADVERTS / SONGS. In Edit mode you drag tracks onto slots, assign colours and hotkeys, and remove carts. Clicking a cart (or pressing its hotkey) fires it over the automation immediately.

Microphone & monitoring #

  • ARM MIC: mixes your microphone over the automation. Voice-activity ducking dips the music under you automatically, you don't ride a fader. (Requires the browser-mic bridge to be running; the button is disabled if it isn't.) Disarm when you're done.
  • Stream monitor: ▶ Public / ▶ Wards buttons to listen to the actual broadcast output in your browser.
  • VU meters show levels; Now / Next shows what's playing and what's coming.

Use headphones in the studio, monitoring the stream out loud while the mic is armed causes feedback.

Voice Studio & Segue editor #

  • Voice Studio (/studio/voice-studio), a mini multi-track editor for recording voice links and produced spots. Record your voice, drop a music bed under it (it auto-ducks), trim with handles, draw fade envelopes, then upload, silence is auto-trimmed and the clip lands in the Library after processing. AI script + ElevenLabs voice generation are available here when enabled.
  • Segue editor (double-click a log row), fine-tune a transition: drag the cue-out of the outgoing track and the cue-in / intro of the incoming track on their waveforms, then save.

Show prep #

The Show Prep panel briefs the presenter: the next few tracks at a glance, upcoming items with Wikipedia/track info, station announcements (general/charity/hospital/show), auto-generated presenter scripts per hour, and an editable show-notes box.
